Poroto Forest National Campsite (Poroto-no-Mori Campsite)
The campsite, which is located on the far side of Lake Poroto, makes the most of Shiraoi's abundant natural surroundings, and with development at the site kept to a minimum, the number of visitors has increased dramatically in recent years. The campsite was established to enable campers to become familiar with nature, and enable them to enjoy hiking as well as forest and water-based activities. Auto camping is not possible, but the bracing feel of rising in the morning to the sound of the birds is one of the campsites special characteristics. Summer reservations for the 5 bungalows currently being built are also being made in great numbers. Reservations necessary for large groups only.

Other Shiraoi beef, lamb and a variety of snacks and the
like are sold in the kiosk in the Visitors Center.

Morino Auto-Campsite
A campsite located on the road between Shiraoi and Otaki that opens between May and the end of October. Known as an Auto-Campsite, electricity supplie to the sites enable campers to experience outdoor life with a minimum of trouble. Reservations necessary (up to one week in advance)
