There are 5 prominent rivers that flow through
the town of Shiraoi, with many waterfalls upstream. At present a total
of 8 waterfalls have been confirmed.

Inkura Falls
Know as a waterfall selected as one of Japan's top 100. The waterfall
is accessible to the general public, with an observatory, parking lot
and toilets on site.
Height:: 43.9 meters
Width of waterfall: approximately 10 meters

Shiraoi Falls
One of the town's 3 most famous waterfalls, together with the Inkura and
Shadai falls. Taking the most detailed map available is recommended when
walking in the area.
Height: 40 meters (total height of all 3 levels)
Width of waterfall: 5meters
Be sure to carry a detailed map and be cautious of

Shadai Falls
Located more than 20 km from the Shadai district of Shiraoi. The cliff,
with a round hollow scooped out by the constant weathering and two holes
above that look like eyes, is often associated with the devil's face.
Height: approximately 100 meters
Width of waterfall: width varies depending on quantity of water.
As with Shiraoi Falls, it is necessary to carry
a detailed map and be cautious of bears. Solitary actions can lead to
danger; be properly equipped at all times. |
